President Michelle Bachelet announced the creation of a Climate Change and Sustainable Development Agency to coordinate fulfillment of Chile's commitments under international treaties on climate change and implementation of plans to adapt the country to rising global temperatures. The agency "will articulate agreements between government and business to implement mitigation, adaptation and skill-building around this new reality," the president said in her annual address to Congress May 21.
