All the talk in the energy sector at present seems to be about the plunging oil price. The price of Brent crude fell by more than a quarter between July and October this year, from $115 a barrel to less than $85 (before staging a slight recovery). Looked at graphically, this drop makes the cliche falling off a precipice seem all too apposite! It will have serious global repercussions, both positive and negative. How much further, one wonders, can the price fall, and what has triggered it?
