The Law of Energy Underground

The Law of Energy Underground (Energy Underground) is a magnum opus (actually the seventh) of the Academic Advisory Group of the Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law of the International Bar Association (the IBA Group). Like the six previous volumes, it boasts many famous names in the field. The IBA Group has been in existence for 32 years. It originated in a discussion I chaired over dinner at the Timberline Inn in the Banff National Park in Canada during the 1982 IBA Energy Law Seminar. The proposed group was represented by Rowland Harrison, a professor and head of the Canadian Institute of Resources Law at the University of Calgary (who not so long ago retired as a member of Canada's National Energy Board). It was then agreed to establish a formal global collaboration amongst specialist practitioners and academics in international energy and resources law.
