SHALE 'FOLLOW -UP'

Two-thousand-and-eighteen continued to show substantial improvements in productivity and cost reduction in shale and other unconventional operations. This, together with a new incentives programme for gas produced from unconventional fields that extended the subsidies system through December 2021 and higher international prices, have led to a steady increase in the production of unconventional hydrocarbons, in contrast to the declining production from conventional fields. Following the very good mid-term elections results for the government in October, several investment projects have been announced and E&P activity is expected to grow in 2018.
