The prospective a rescue of digital-textile-printing pioneer Osiris Inkjet Systems by fellow Dutch company Royal Ten Cate - a giant of the technical-textile world - is only the latest twist in a long story of struggle and survival. Osiris led the world with its concept for an industrial-scale, ultra-fast fabric printer when it presented it at ITMA in 2003. Unfortunately, development delays meant it took six years to build and by the time the first Isis machine was installed at the high-end Italian printer Maver, in 2009, the technology - based on the 144dpi Imaje print head - was already looking a little faded.
