This technological development has opened the door for the growth of the Angora cottage industry. The air-plasma treatment is very cost-effective and provides the desired cohesion among the Angora fibres. The plasma treatment helps in value addition and will provide access to niche markets at home and abroad for Angora products. In future, one can expect to see many more developments for applications in natural- and manmade-fibre textiles. FCIPT has licensed the related technology to InspirOn Engineering Private Limited at Ahmedabad for commercialisation. We have manufactured and supplied two industrial-scale plants for plasma processing of Angora fibres, as shown in Figure 3 - one each at Ranichauri (Uttarakhand) and Kullu (Himachal Pradesh) during 2012. This is the first industrial-scale atmospheric-pressure plasma system for textiles developed in the country.
