Chile's Copper Industry Grows in a Competitive World Market

In much the same way that the towering Andes mountain range dominates the landscape, copper mining looms large in the economy of Chile, accounting for 40% of the value of its exports and 14% of gross national product. Chile's copper industry processes millions of tons of ore each year. The intense downward pressure on copper prices forces producers to keep their mining and processing low in order to provide an adequate profit margin. That, in turn, requires the capacity to process ever-increasing volumes of ore through crushing, screening and grinding equipment that is reliable, efficient and cost-effective-characteristics that also happen to be the strong points of Svedala's mineral processing product line.
