This year's ranking of the world's 200 largest construction companies not only sees China's five largest players cement their positions inside the global top ten, but it has also seen the emergence of the world's first US$ 100 billion+ per year contractor - China State Construction & Engineering (CECEC). As in last year's rankings, the top three places are occupied by Chinese state-controlled companies in the shape of CSCEC and the two major rail construction groups, China Railway Construction (2) and China Railway Group (3). All three saw significant growth in 2013, the year the rankings are based on, with the gap to fourth-paced Vinci widening. Last year there was a US$ 25 billion gulf between the third and fourth placed companies. This year that stands at nearly US$ 35 billion.
