Are we all BIM ready? More to the point, do we want or need to be? BIM, or Building Information Modelling, is the system of digitally representing the physical characteristics of a construction project, and a basis on which a team can share information about a project, ensuring high standards are maintained across different construction disciplines. Like it or not, BIM is no longer a new-fangled technological add-on that might help you win a construction project; it is in some cases mandatory if you wish to tender for a construction job. In April this year, the UK government made the use of Level 2 BIM a mandatory requirement for contractors tendering for public sector construction projects.
