Small size, big popularity

It seems that, for many contractors, bigger isn't always better with mini excavators being one of the quickest growing equipment segments. In fact, according to data from Off-Highway Research, global sales for the mini excavator were at their highest point ever in 2019. This is not a shock to Seigo Yamamoto, Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME) compact product manager, who commented that, "Given their incredible versatility, it's no surprise to see significant growth in demand for these small machines. The European mini excavator market has risen from 40,000 units in 2013 to almost 80,000 units in 2019.
