Science and technology at the Bibliotheque nationale de France: a new policy, a new electronic library and a new access to information

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to describe developments in electronic reproduction and delivery at the Bibliotheque nationale de France (BnF),rnand in particular in science, technology and medicine (STM) subjects.rnDesign/methodology/approach - The paper takes a descriptive approach.rnFindings - Radical changes are taking place at the BnF, especially in widening access and in document supply.rnOriginality/value - This is one of the very few papers in English to describe the strategic developments at the BnF to service its customers, both onsiternand remote.
