Nino Cerruti is a man with a mission. "I want to add that special touch of magic to interior design," he says in his understated, soft-spoken way. Season after season, he has applied that touch to fashion. Now, three years after his last collection at the head of the company he sold in 2001, he is transferring his sense of aesthetics and style to the world of interior design through a consultancy with furniture manufacturer Baleri Italia. Cerruti, however, modestly says he does not have the "technical ability" to design furniture and firmly denies being directly involved in it. He defines the project with Baleri as a way to conceptualize the home, though remaining firmly rooted in reality. "This is about how I view the home," he says.
