Guiding building innovation in a distinct functional sector: POE of new police accommodation

A key question which these POEs inform is the question of shed vs. office. Sheds have advantages of cost and speed to market. They also lend themselves to incorporating custody units. On the downside, their off-pitch lower rental locations are more likely to strain staff amenity, personnel and public access. The question is whether they can be suitably adapted to meet operational requirements and staff performance. Based on the evidence of these POEs, the answer is promising. Ongoing research on other new police accommodation will test this further.
