Demosthenes M. de Pinho Neto, member of the executive committee of Unibanco and head of Unibanco's Asset Management division (UAM), is upbeat - and for good reason. UAM, an independent division of Brazil's fifth-largest privately-owned bank, has already seen its assets under management jump to $22.2 billion by the end of 2006, up 21 percent year-on-year, even as its client base and asset classes receiving the inflows have broadened and become far more sophisticated.
