The renowned Austrian economist Joseph Schum-peter recognized nearly a century ago the strong correlation between capital markets and an economy's growth. This observation was supported by the key findings of a study carried out by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna. Research by the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna found that while Austria was in the top European leagues with respect to GDP and control of inflation, it was below the European Union average in terms of market capitalization and exchange trading volumes. The Austrian capital market has done much to catch up, but there's still room for growth, and many factors now in play are ac-celerating the process.
