The Equality Act 2010 outlines that people must not be discriminated against because of their race, which encompasses colour, nationality and ethnicity. There are four kinds of race discrimination: 1.1 Direct discrimination, which occurs when someone treats a person worse than another person in a similar situation because of their race 2.1 Indirect discrimination, which occurs when an organisation has a rule or policy that places people from certain racial, ethnic or national groups at a disadvantage 3.1 Harassment, which occurs when someone makes a person feel humiliated, offended or degraded 4.1 Victimisation, which occurs when a person is treated badly because they have made a complaint of race-related discrimination under the Equality Act. It can also affect a person who is supporting someone who has made a complaint of race-related discrimination. 5-5 IMechE Argyll Ruane Level 3 Services working smart during the pandemic Established in February 1999 by David Griffin, IMechE Argyll Ruane's Level 3 Services department offers NDT support and services to the aerospace, oil & gas, petrochemical, medical and automotive industries, to name but a few. IMechE Argyll Ruane considers the team of six highly capable, experienced, responsive and reliable Level 3 consultants as some of the best in the industry, but the recent challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have meant adapting to new ways of working. The team has managed to keep supporting customers through all but the earliest days of the national lockdown and, along with the rest of IMechE Argyll Ruane, it quickly assessed the unique health & safety requirements of the crisis and adopted safe methods for working both on and off site. With services often being delivered overseas and travel currently restricted, the team is now able to provide consultancy over video conferencing, including providing Level 3 training using virtual classroom training (VCT), enabling NDT professionals to access advanced tuition from its industry experts anywhere in the world. Additionally, IMechE Argyll Ruane is now able to arrange for exams to be taken at partner training schools around the world, or indeed around the UK.
