It is still early in January as I write this column and it is still not yet winter here in Southern California. As the rest of the USA and Northern Europe are battling severe cold and storms, we are still basking in the sun. At 1 am on New Year's Day morning we were sitting outside, smoking cigars and drinking single malt whisky. The extreme cold has seriously inhibited our NDT activities in the midwest and northern states, although surprisingly our crews in Alaska were not greatly affected. It is time to take advantage of the indoors and concentrate on training our technicians. I am heading out to Minnesota to teach an ultrasonics class.
