MDA closing in on follow-on GMD development, sustainment AQ strategy

The Missile Defense Agency appears to be closing in on a final acquisition strategy for a follow-on Ground-based Midcourse Defense development and sustainment contract, an effort that appears on track to break up a single support contract for the homeland defense ballistic missile defense system into multiple projects. On Dec. 2, MDA announced plans to brief select defense contractors Dec. 17-18 on current thinking for what it now calls the GMD Futures program, hosting a modified industry day for interested potential bidders to meet one-on-one with the government.
