MDA closing in on follow-on GMD development, sustainment AQ strategy

The Missile Defense Agency appears to be closing in on a final acquisition strategy for a follow-on Ground-based Midcourse Defense development and sustainment contract, an effort that appears on track to break up a single support contract for the homeland defense ballistic missile defense system into multiple projects. On Dec. 2, MDA announced plans to brief select defense contractors Dec. 17-18 on current thinking for what it now calls the GMD Futures program, hosting a modified industry day for interested potential bidders to meet one-on-one with the government. "The purpose of the industry day event is to present information on GMD Futures to industry partners," states the new notice. "MDA's goal is to help industry partners understand government needs, requirements, considerations, and share information that may be of interest to industry partners."
