Report: Coming Revolution In Warfare Requires New Thinking, Investments

Two former senior Pentagon policymakers predict in a new report that commercial technological advances could be harnessed by a potential adversary in the coming decades to disrupt both U.S. military supremacy and the global military balance, a prospect that augurs for U.S. defense planners to begin investing in what they argue is a coming new military technical revolution. Robert Work and Shawn Brimley postulate in a paper published by the Center for New American Security, a nonpar-tisan think tank, that the proliferation of guided-munitions-battle networks -- in places such as Russia, China and Iran -- is beginning to erode the U.S. military's preeminence and herald a new future for which the Defense Department is not ready.
