Kendall Seeks Enhanced Acquisition Role For Military Service Chiefs

Pentagon acquisition czar Frank Kendall is making the case that service chiefs should have a greater role in acquisition -- but only to a point. Speaking Tuesday at a National Defense Industrial Association event, Kendall said that service chiefs should be "deeply engaged" on the requirements, budget and personnel aspects of acquisition. "They should not be deeply engaged on how to structure a program or what kind of contract to use or what kind of risk mitigation to use," Kendall said. "When they get engaged on those things, we have big problems."
