DISA, CYBERCOM Joint Force Headquarters To Open Jan. 15

A joint force headquarters linking the Defense Information Systems Agency with U.S. Cyber Command to better manage defense networks will achieve initial operating capability at Ft. Meade, MD, on Jan. 15, according to DISA spokesman Jeff Capenos. The JFHQ, which was approved by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel in November, will be commanded by DISA Director Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins. The JFHQ is intended to act as an execution arm for CYBERCOM in the Defense Department's information network. For example, CYBERCOM may request that a certain digital port be closed within the defense network and the JFHQ would be responsible for sending out the orders and accounting for the action having been accomplished.
