DIUx makes new award for autonomous tactical drone

The Defense Innovation Unit Experimental, the Pentagon's new technology prototype outreach team, has awarded a contract for an autonomous tactical airborne drone. The $1 million award to Shield AI of San Diego, CA, is for a nine-month prototype project and was made by Army Contracting Command on behalf of DIUx and Navy Special Warfare Command, according to a Sept. 1 notice on Federal Business Opportunities.
