Defense Science Board sees 'tipping point' for autonomous technology

Autonomous technology has reached a "tipping point" and the Defense Department must take immediate action to accelerate research and development activities in autonomy, according to a new Defense Science Board report obtained by Inside Defense. The Aug. 1 report, which details recommendations for hundreds of millions of dollars in specific Pentagon investments, "concluded that autonomy will deliver substantial operational value across an increasingly diverse array of DOD missions, but the DOD must move more rapidly to realize this value."
