Kaman unveils unmanned helo to resupply Marine Corps forces

Kaman Corp. has unveiled an unmanned aerial vehicle designed to resupply deployed Marines and other servicemembers in contested areas. The company is designing the KARGO medium-lift vehicle and will be building a full-scale demonstrator at the end of this year and fly it in 2022, Ian Walsh, CEO of Kaman told reporters today during a media roundtable. "We're not carrying people, we're carrying things, and that's what makes it, quite frankly, a lot easier to get to that higher maturity level," Walsh said. KARGO can carry up to 800 pounds of cargo to different locations, Walsh said. There are no published requirements for KARGO, but is in the process of helping the Marine Corps develop and shape the program's requirements, Walsh said. "We're hoping for some level of requirements to get formulated and come out, but we want to push forward as quickly as we can, knowing that this is something that they need - and they need it soon," Walsh added.
