Marine Corps' G/ATOR verifies system operations, C2 interoperability

The Marine Corps' Ground/Air Task-Oriented Radar program verified system operations and command and control interoperability during testing this spring, a service spokeswoman told Inside Defense. Program spokeswoman Barb Hamby told Inside Defense Thursday that G/ATOR performed as expected during its test and evaluation event this spring at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division in Virginia. This testing "was primarily intended as a dry run to verify system operations and C2 interoperability," Hamby said. G/ATOR is a multirole, ground-based expeditionary 3D radar system and a critical program in the Navy's force design efforts, according to the service's budget documents. Testing took place over five weeks at Dahlgren, and included interoperability testing with other systems, according to a Marine Corps press release. Hamby said that testing was part of a number of G/ATOR testing and demonstration events the Marine Corps and Army have held since the second quarter of fiscal year 2021.
