Despite Airbus making a series of objections to the Navy's technical assessment of its proposal for a new training helicopter, the Government Accountability Office found the company's allegations are "without merit," according to a summary of the watchdog's decision. The document, published yesterday, elaborates on GAO's decision to deny Airbus' protest of a $176 million contract to AgustaWestland, a subsidiary of Leonardo, for a new helicopter, dubbed TH-73.Airbus raised several issues, including that a Navy test pilot erred during a demonstration, the company was unfairly penalized as a result of the service misunderstanding an additional cockpit feature and the Navy didn't sufficiently explain its award decision.
