Newsprint manufacturers in Germany hope for some support for the 2009 round of price negotiations from the capacity cutting measures planned until the end of the year. Against the backdrop of falling pagination, circulation figures and receding advertising earnings ofrnnewspaper publishing houses who are increasingly resorting to austerity measures, implementing price hikes of at least 15% will be an "uphill task. Newsprint producers presenting a united front as regards prices made it amply clear that they will not budge from their demands.
