What drives a person, or in this case, two people, to embark on a seem- ingly foolhardy Internet-related venture immediately after the dotcom bust? Perhaps it was their youth and naivete: Varsha Jagdale was 24 years old and Carlos Fernandes was also 24 when they registered Perceptivei Pte Ltd in Singapore. Fernandes recounts that he had worked as a researcher at Information Technology Institute, now the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A~*STAR) and that his background as business development manager in a spin-off from A~*STAR made him think that he could start a business, but he needed to spot a good business idea.
