In Singapore, there are various platforms available for pre-university students to try their hands at scientific research. Apart from mentorship programs like the Science Research Program (SRP), contests such as the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) and the A~*STAR Talent Search (A~*TS) have also seen increasingly enthusiastic participation over the years. Attitudes towards such endeavors frequently fall under two categories: firstly, fear of the independent work required and secondly, scepticism of the value of the research produced.
