In our last article, "An Opportunity for Change," we discussed how academia can shift to meet the demands of the design industry today and painted a picture of the ideal design educator. Yet that is only half of the equation. Education is as much give as it is take; namely, education is the sum of the effort of the student and the professor. Education, especially in the field of industrial design, is not defined just by what occurs in the classroom but also by what the student does with that knowledge outside of it.
