I experienced a difficulty with a credit card a month or two ago. A bill arrived from a firm with which I had a credit account for many years, and it seemed exceptionally high. I could not recall any orders during the previous month that would have driven it to that level. Upon examination of the bill and comparison with the previous month's bill, I realized that the company had charged me $135 plus change twice-once 2 months before, a legitimate charge that I had paid promptly, and then again the recently completed month. Here we go, I figured. So I called the company, and it said it would file an inquiry. I paid the small amount that covered the legitimate charges for the month and waited.
