Beyond Borders at SLA

The Special Libraries Association (SLA) has long billed itself as an international organization. At its annual conference, held in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the theme of Beyond Borders, SLA proved it is truly international in scope. Not only did its U.S. members have to carry their passports and go through customs and immigration upon arrival in Canada, the conference attracted attendees from 36 countries. The current president, Kate Arnold, is from the U.K. The European chapter sent a large delegation of members and award winners. The Asian chapter held its annual business meeting during the conference. The Australia/New Zealand chapter sent several members, while both it and the Arabian Gulf chapter have members running for office in the 2015 election. Speakers represented many viewpoints from outside North America.
