India's Ministry of Tourism sponsors an advertising campaign with the slogan "Incredible India" to attract more visitors to the country (incredibleindia.com). Pro-Quest heeded the Incredible India sentiment by introducing, in late 2013, a new database for Indian journals. It did stop short of naming it the Incredible Indian Journals Database-it's more mundanely known as ProQuest Indian Journals. ProQuest says its rationale for creating the database originated with requests from higher education institutions in India, but also from regions where Asian studies are offered or that have an emphasis on Indian scholarship. It is a multi-disciplinary database incorporating more than 200 subscription-based, non-open-access (OA) journals published in India.
