摘要

It wasn't a long standoff. Just a few months after deciding not to renew a reading agreement, Norway's higher education bodies have struck a 2-year pilot deal with Elsevier. It brings the holy grail of OA publishing a little closer. Unit, a Norwegian directorate that looks after joint services in higher education, negotiated with Elsevier. It says in a statement that the pilot will give seven universities and 39 research bodies across Norway access to more than 2,500 journals published by Elsevier and its associates. Researchers and scientists covered by the deal will be able to publish their work on the Elsevier platform on an OA basis. Unit representative Katrine Weisteen Bjerde says talks on the next deal "from 2021 and onwards will take place in 2020." She says the current agreement is worth about €10 million (about $11.2 million). "The sum paid is a total for reading and publishing. No division between the two has [been] defined."
