Current Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) programmes

JISC is an independent advisory body that works with further and higher education in UK by providing strategic guidance, advice and opportunities to use ICT to support learning, teaching, research and administration. JISC is funded by the UK Further and Higher Education Funding Councils. It was established on 1 April 1993 under the terms of letters of guidance from the Secretaries of State to the newly established Higher Education Funding Councils for England, Scotland and Wales. In 1995, the Department of Education, Northern Ireland (DENI) and the existing partners agreed that DENI should become a full partner in JISC. The new JISC structure was put in place from December 2001 together with a new JISC Five Year Strategy, 2001-2006.
