Understanding of Management Solutions is Poor

Understanding of enterprise man-agement technologies is still inade-quate: results from a new survey of 200 large European enterprises (across seven European countries and seven key vertical sectors), conducted by independent market analysts Datamonitor, reveal that, when it comes to investment in management solutions, almost 50% are either not investing or are undecided. According to the report, 'Understanding end-user trends in enterprise management and security', just 38% of European organizations surveyed envisage spending between 1 and 10% of their annual IT budget on management initiatives in 2003. Whilst IT, telecommunications and financial services organizations will drive uptake of 'intelligent' management solutions, it is the retail and utilities sector that will drive enterprise management investment in the short term. Technology vendors need to be able to demonstrate the cost savings and efficiency gains achievable through enterprise security and management solutions.
