Zizek now: current perspectives in Zizek studies

When reading some of Zizek's more theoretical texts, we often feel that we understand his argument - well illustrated as it is through jokes and references to popular culture - but that there remains something that we feel unable to grasp (perhaps something 'in Zizek more than himself). This is the gap filled by Zizek now (2013): a near-comprehensive road map to Zizek's more challenging and fascinating ideas, aiming to critically 'explore the utility and far-ranging implications of Zizek's thought to various disciplines and provide an evaluation of the difference his work makes or promises to make in different fields' (2013, p. 8). The text more than achieves this task, with 10 different authors meeting with Zizek's theory critically and providing distinct and nuanced accounts of his ideas, skilfully edited so that the book has a very easy-to-read narrative throughout in both structure and discourse.
