This book focuses on Chile's experience since its return to democracy after 1990. The recovery of unions took place since this period and reversed the negative effects of Pinochet's dictatorship, which had suppressed unions from the public life since the coup d'etat of 1973. Many researchers of industrial relations in Chile have paid little attention to the study on unionism and collective bargaining at the firm level. These aspects constitute the core of the country's labour relations system and turn it into a case of particularly rich data for examining the differences of union power in firms.
