A return to travel makes us welcome the airport routine

Two years ago, I attended my first - and, so far, only - in-person IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2019 in Orlando, Florida. It was a whirlwind four days that were hectic, busy and fun, and gave me a chance to meet members face to face at presentations, panels and keynote speeches and hand out Institute swag in the Exhibit Hall. Now we gather again this month at the virtual Annual Conference, set for May 22-25. Even as we look forward to touching base remotely, as we did last fall, we long for the chance to gather in person again for conferences when the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer an ongoing threat. IISE plans to take that first step back toward normality this fall at the Lean Six Sigma & Data Science Conference Sept. 20-22 at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead, north of Atlanta, a short ride from IISE headquarters. From there, we hope to be back in full-tilt travel mode for all of next year's events.
