The right tool makes all the difference, and when it comes to welding and finishing supplies, this is exceptionally true. You've heard the saying, "If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer." Well, it doesn't really apply to grinding and finishing. Getting a bigger grinder or a coarser grit sand paper is not usually the answer to a finishing issue. The key is having the appropriate tool for the actual application at hand. Pete Gallagher, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Weldmark, says that "the correct combination of filler metal and shielding gas can increase the amount of inches per minute of welding (deposition rates)." Likewise, correct abrasives mean optimal metal removal, whether it be a little or a lot.
