An enlightenment programme on the adoption of new technologies for the production of quality bivoltine cocoons was organized under Cluster Promotion Programme at IN. Betta, Pavagada Taluk, Tumkur Dist, Karnataka on March 21, 2009 by RSRS, Kodathi. Inaugurating the programme, Dr. R.K. Subramanyam, Scientist-D, CSR&TI, Mysore briefed the gathering about the role of Cluster Promotion Programme in the improvement of bivoltine cocoon production. Dr. Jaishankar, Scientist-D, explained the importance of adopting new bivoltine rearing technologies for the production of quality cocoons. Dr. Srikantaswamy, Scientist-C, CSR&TI, Mysore highlighted the importance of organic farming, soil testing and application of compost manures in protecting the soil properties. Shri Puttalingaiah, Deputy Director, DOS, Tumkur explained about the implementation of bivoltine programme in Y.N. Hosakote. Dr. Sudhakara Rao, Scientist-C, CSR&TI, Mysore stressed about disinfection and care to be taken during rearing to prevent the occurrence of disease.
