Cost-effective Printing on Silk with Reactive Dye using Guar Gum

Thickeners are used in reactive printing of textiles. To substitute the widely used thickener Sodium alginate, authors have made an attempt to use guar gum that ensured equally good results, of course, bringing down the cost of processing. Details. In textile Industry, sodium alginate is the most widely used thickener in reactive printing, and is costly. An attempt has been made to experiment with some alternative thickener such as guar gum which not only reduces the cost of printing, but also produces good printing results on silk fabric. It is easily available and about 70% of the guar gum is produced in India and Pakistan.
