SERICILUN: ISSUES THAT CALL FOR SOME JUSTIFICATION

This refers to the article 'Sericillin - A synergistic composition for disinfecting silkworm body and bed by Satdal Chakrabarty ef al. (Indian Silk, May-June, 2013). Congratulations to the authors for developing and recommending a new silkworm body and bed disinfectant 'Sericillin' to prevent the spread of silkworm diseases (grasserie, flacherie, muscardine and pebrine), which is also patented and commercialized. However, similar article on 'Sericillin' as an alternative to 'Labex' which is widely and extensively used disinfectant by sericulturists in West Bengal and other Eastern and North-eastern states in the country was published by Mohanan et al. from the same institute (Indian Silk. November, 2009).
