Fatty Liver

Gunika 55, is worried about diagnoses of 'fatty liver' in her recent abdominal ultrasound report. She is plump; leads a sedentary life and loves eating 'junk food'. Last week when she had a bout of abdominal pain and loss of appetite-her family doctor advised her to get some blood tests and one ultrasound of abdomen. All her blood reports were fine but glaring was accidental finding of 'fatty liver'. "Studies have shown that one in five people have 'fatty liver' in India and they are not aware of it," says Dr. S.K. Sarin, Director of the Delhi Govt, run Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS).
