摘要

The research and development team of our centre has made significant progress in developing various precast eco friendly geopolymer products using industrial waste materials from smelters as aggregates and binders. Sodium silicate is the alkali activator and the principal cementing material in the geopoiymer concrete. A breakthrough in developing appropriate mix design using selective raw materials and production methods to manufacture prefinished eco friendly concrete competitive to that of Portland cement concrete was made in our centre. The technology of Portland cement concrete is perfected and established over 100 years and geopolymer can only be an alternate supplement and can't replace Portland cement. The manufacturing of geopolymer concrete process being sensitive and involves liquid alkalis. This can presently be popularised as pre-cast or pre-mixed material and can be classified as sustainable green building material. Geopolymer based eco friendly concrete can be perfected and popularised only by sharing of research data and with the support of green building architects and builders to incorporate geopolymer in their building designs.
