The business needs of small independent broadcast and production companies

Elaine England, a member of the BKSTS Multimedia Committee, and a firm believer that Multimedia must form a key part of the business mix that's necessary for any successful business, recently interviewed the author of a report on the business needs of small independent broadcast and production companies. The report was commissioned by the government office for Yorkshire and The Humber and carried out by a researcher at Leeds University, an ex BBC man, Terry Speake. Although it is obviously regionally based, and the response was somewhat limited, it's a good step in the right direction, and likely to prove interesting and relevant to Moving Image Society members. Terry gave a seminar on the results of the report on 24th April at Bretton Hall College, Wakefield, and was recently appointed to a new job as Manager of the Manchester Technology Management Centre. Elaine and Terry discussed some of the findings of the report.
