The world's first daily newspaper was published 350 years ago, on 1st July 1650, in Leipzig, Germany. The anniversary had already been marked at the end of May this year by the issue of a special postage stamp by the Deutsche Post as well as putting on a show of the Einkommende Zeitungen, on loan from the Royal Swedish Museum where the original is kept today, at the municipal library of the City of Leipzig and at the publishing house of the Leipziger Volkszeitung, the successor to the first daily paper.
