On 8 December 2008, Tribune Company (owner of The Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times) announced it would attempt restructuring its debt obligations under the protection of Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Since then, the company is in negotiations with its creditors.
