The present issue of the IETE Journal of Research, Vol. 56, No. 5 (Sept.-Oct. 2010) contains eight articles. These articles present the ongoing research and development taking place in the broad areas of communication systems, signal processing, electromagnetics and power systems.rnIn the first paper, "Performance of Microstrip Low-Pass Filter on Electromagnetic Band Gap Ground Plane," the authors have analyzed the printed low-pass filter with Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) ground plane. It has been shown that the EBG pattern of rectangular slots etched on the ground plane and located offset from the center line offers an improved stop band characteristic and also reduces the overall size of the filter. Experimental results on a fabricated prototype showed good agreement with the simulated results.
